Score each question based on your actual current launch video — not an aspirational one. Each question maps to a known failure mode from real startup launch videos reviewed by Kino. The scoring is direct: yes or no, no partial credit.

Question 1 of 7

Does your video open on the product in action within the first 3 seconds?

Not a logo, not a tagline, not atmosphere — the product doing something that shows what it is. A viewer decides in 2–3 seconds whether to keep watching. Logo-first openings lose a meaningful share of the audience before they understand what was built.

Question 2 of 7

Is all product UI text in your video legible at mobile resolution?

Blurry or garbled UI text is a known failure of AI-generated video — confirmed across Kling, Seedance, and Veo 3 as of June 2026. If your video was made with AI-generated footage as the hero, the UI text shown is hallucinated, not your real product. Design-aware founders notice immediately.

Question 3 of 7

Can someone describe what your product does after watching the video once, without sound?

Mute the video and watch it through. If the visual progression alone does not communicate what the product is and why it matters, the video is failing in most of its real distribution contexts — X, LinkedIn, and Product Hunt are largely watched without audio on the first pass.

Question 4 of 7

Does the video include at least one intentional motion-design element that a screen recorder cannot replicate?

Kinetic typography, animated UI overlays, a product reveal transition, or a motion-designed data visualisation. If your video is indistinguishable from a screen recording with background music, it is doing zero differentiated work at the launch moment — and design-aware founders know it.

Question 5 of 7

Is the video under 60 seconds for a feed-first post (X, LinkedIn, Product Hunt)?

A launch film for a feed-first post has one job: earn the click to the product, pricing page, or waitlist. That job does not take 90 seconds. Anything over 60 seconds for a feed post is a product walkthrough pretending to be a launch film — and it will be abandoned before the CTA lands.

Question 6 of 7

Does the video show the real product UI — captured and real, not AI-generated or a mockup?

The real product UI, captured at 2x or 3x resolution, is the proof that the product exists and works. A video showing AI-generated UI approximations or mockup placeholders signals that the team could not show their real product — which is a credibility loss precisely where you need credibility most.

Question 7 of 7

Does the video end with one clear call to action — not a logo hold, not a website URL, but a specific next step?

A launch video that ends on a logo or a generic URL earns a soft no. A specific CTA — "get early access", "join the waitlist", "try it free" — gives the viewer a clear next action at the moment of peak interest. The CTA at the end is where the launch film pays off or doesn't.
